Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred
Video Game Localization · Italian
Italian localization for Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, a major expansion that continues the conflict with Mephisto and carries the story of Diablo IV to the sacred isles of Skovos. Working on one of the most influential and recognizable action role-playing franchises in gaming meant contributing to a universe defined by decades of lore, powerful imagery and a deeply established linguistic identity.
The localization required meticulous attention to the terminology already developed throughout Diablo IV and the wider franchise. Character voices, locations, factions, abilities, equipment, quests and gameplay systems all needed to remain consistent with the existing Italian terminology while integrating the new content naturally into the world of Sanctuary.
Particular care was also devoted to preserving the dark, solemn and often threatening tone of the narrative. Dialogue and descriptive text had to retain their dramatic weight, while gameplay information needed to remain immediate and precise even when dealing with complex mechanics, effects and interconnected systems.
Our work focused on balancing fidelity, clarity and atmosphere, ensuring that the Italian text felt cohesive with the rest of the series rather than appearing as an isolated expansion. The goal was to protect the distinctive identity of the Diablo universe and provide Italian players with an immersive experience in which every revelation, confrontation and descent into darkness retained its intended impact.
